Savannah, Georgia - The fourth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team swept Campbellsville 5-0 Wednesday morning at Bacon Park. With the win the Bees improve to 9-0, while the Tigers fall to 2-5.
Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock started the scoring for the Bees with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. With that win, the duo improves to 10-0 on the season. Daniella Arcila and Anastasia Castro followed with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles, while Karina Rovira and Julia Albuquerque won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to give SCAD a 3-0 advantage.
In singles play, Albuquerque won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles to extend the lead to 4-0. Castro followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 6 position to clinch the match for the Bees. SCAD won the first set in the other four singles matches as well but those matches didn't finish because the match was already clinched.
With the win Albuquerque, ranked 19th in the NAIA, improves to 10-0 in singles play this season.
The Bees will return to the court Friday, March 18, when they face Georgetown. The match is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Bacon Park.
