Women’s Tennis Extends Win Streak to Four

Naples, Florida – The fourth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team swept Ave Maria to extend its winning streak to four Sunday afternoon at the AMU Tennis Courts. With the win the Bees improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 against The Sun Conference, while the Gyrenes fall to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock got the scoring started with an 8-1 win over the eighth-ranked doubles team of Marianna Vargas and Mary Kate Lee at No. 1 doubles. SCAD won both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches 8-0 to extend their lead to 3-0 heading into singles play.

Gbaguidi and Julia Albuquerque won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Bees. Murdock and Karina Rovira posted straight sets wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectfully, to give SCAD a 7-0 lead.

With the match already clinched the final two singles matches played one set to eight points. Daniella Arcila won 8-0 at No. 5 singles, while Anastasia Castro, competing in her first singles match of the season, won 8-0 at No. 6 singles.

The Bees will return to the court next weekend when they travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia for a pair of games. SCAD will face 11th-ranked Xavier Friday at 3 p.m. and then play 14th-ranked Cumberland Saturday at 6 p.m.
