Savannah, GA – The eighth-ranked SCAD women tennis team used a dominant performance in singles play to rout Southeastern 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Bacon Park. With the win the Bees improve to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the Sun Conference, while the Fire fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Bees jumped out to a quick start as
Maria Barragan and
Camille Gbaguidi took the first doubles point with an 8-0 win.
Gianna Mitchell and
Karina Rovira 8-2 win at number three doubles gave the Bees a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
SCAD picked up six straight sets wins in singles play for the 8-1 final.
Daniella Arcila picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at number six singles, in her first action of the season.
SCAD will be back in action Saturday, February 14, when they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. to face Northwood in a Sun Conference match-up. Match is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
