Statesboro, GA – Facing their second Division I opponent in the span of a week the eighth-ranked SCAD women's tennis team fell to Georgia Southern 7-0 Sunday February 1 at the Wallis Tennis Center. With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-0 overall, while the Bees drop to 1-2.
The Bees fell behind early as GSU clinched win at number one and number three doubles to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
SCAD fought back in singles, as
Camille Gbaguidi won the second set before losing in a third set tiebreak to Jordana Klein. Similarly
Maria Barragan made a run, but ultimately fell in a second set tiebreaker to Mary Phillips Smith.
Karina Rovira battled back after losing the first set 6-1 and won the second set 6-3, before dropping the third set 7-5.
The women return to action Saturday, February 7 when they host Sun Conference opponent Southeastern University. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bacon Park
