The women's tennis teams from Embry-Riddle and SCAD each won their respective semifinals today to advance to the title match of the 2014 Sun Conference Tennis Tournament. The Eagles and the Bees will be meeting in the tournament finale for the fourth straight year on Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m.
The Bees and the Seahawks had an intense match-up in this semifinal match. Northwood jumped out to an early lead, winning both the second and third doubles matches, but the Bees got a point back when the nationally sixth-ranked team of
Theresa Schmaus and
Maja Plavsic downed Justyna Wojcik and Valentina Souki of Northwood, 8-2.
In singles play, the Seahawks won at numbers three and six, but SCAD notched wins at the first, fourth and fifth positions to tie the team score at 4-4. This left the overall victory up to Plavsic playing at No. 2. Plavsic fell behind early, dropping the first set to Souki 0-6, but the SCAD senior rallied to win the second set 6-3, and then clinched the win for the Lady Bees with a 6-3 decision in the third.

The title match will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. on April 19. The tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship in Mobile, Alabama, May 13-17.
