4/14/2014 10:52:00 AM

The W. Tennis Team was one win away from defeating the #15 ranked Coastal Georgia team.  It was a tough loss for the Lady Bees as they had a couple of opportunities to get the win.

In doubles play the team of Theresa Schmaus and Maja Plavsic were the only winners.  The No. 2 team of Daniella Arcila and Carolina Viteri had a close match, but went down by a break late in the match and ended up losing 5-8.

In singles play, Schmaus and Plavsic continued their winning ways at Nos. 1 and 2, giving SCAD a 3-2 lead in the win-lost matches.  After India Hart lost at No. 3, Carolina Viteri at No. 5 came off the court a 7-5, 6-2 winner giving SCAD the edge again at 4-3.

Only one more win would give the Lady Bees a victory.  After losing the first set 4-6, Daniella Arcila fought back to win the second set 6-4.  Arcila fought hard, but could not break her opponent and ended up losing in the third set 3-6.

Ana Dominguez provided a competitive match in the second set, but also could not break her opponent and Coastal Georgia survived a SCAD scare by a team score of 5-4.

The loss brings SCAD to a 6-5 overall record, but remains at 5-1 in conference play.
