The Lady Bees had won their last two conference matches 9-0 and 8-1 against Webber International and St. Thomas coming into Ave Maria to play the Gyrenes. The results of today's competitions continued their strong play. SCAD defeated the Gyrenes in doubles and singles, 3-0 and 6-0.
In doubles play
Theresa Schmaus and
Maja Plavsic defeated Ave Maria's No. 1 team 8-2. At No. 2
Maria Barragan and
Daniella Arcila went one better by winning 8-1. And then the No. 3 doubles team of
Carolina Viteri and
Ana Dominguez put the icing on the cake by winning 8-0. It does not get much better than that.
That is, until the singles matches began. The long and short of it is that the Lady Bees just kept getting better. Out of the 74 games played by the 6 SCAD players in singles, the ladies lost a total of 6 games. SCAD took every match in straight sets. It was a great day for the women's team.
