The SCAD Men's Lacrosse Team jumped on the Reinhardt Eagles in the first half when they scored 8 goals to the Eagles 3. It looked as if it were going to be a blowout in Woodstock, Georgia, where the men were playing their first road match since the February 8 opening contest against The Citadel.   The second half, however, was a matter of the momentum switching to the Eagles.
Â
The 3rd quarter saw the Bees increase their lead, but they allowed the Eagles to score 3 goals - more than they scored the entire first half of play. Reinhardt came out in the 4th quarter of play with a renewed energy and the Bees saw a different team against which they held a 12-5 advantage. The Eagles started closing the gap. An Eagles goal early in the quarter cut the lead to 12-6. Two more unanswered goals brought the score to 12-8. One more goal by Reinhardt made it 12-9.  And before the horn sounded to end the match, the Eagles scored its 5th unanswered goal. The final score gave SCAD its 5th victory of the 2014 season, but the Bees had been in a fight to the finish.
Â
In spite of the closeness of the final score, the Bees were able to establish a significant lead based upon the early scoring of
Justin McGinnis, who worked the Eagles end of the field for 4 goals. Freshman
Tucker Hotte and sophomore
Nate Travis added two more. The remaining scores were done by
Evan Ruszala,
Aaron Farabee,
Andrew Gualtieri, and
Sam McDavitt with one apiece.Â
Â
Scorers were assisted on four of their goals by
Doug Henry, Ruszala, Hotte, and Travis.  SCAD goalie,
Billy Brennan, had a busy day. Despite the onslaught in the 4
th quarter, Brennan was able to record 10 saves to preserve the 5th season victory for the Bees.
Â
Next up for the men is the second of 5 straight road games. The Bees travel to Athens, Tennessee on March 1 to take on Tennessee Wesleyan College. Go Bees!
