Results Headline: Women's Swimming claims victory over Brenau
Teaser: SCAD takes firsts in two of the three relays against Brenau and Emory
The Women's Swimming team took part in a dual meet with Brenau University and Emory University in Decatur, Georgia on Sunday, Nov. 9. Overall the women won the meet against a strong Brenau team, while performing well against the powerful NCAA-level Emory team.
The women came away with a victory over Brenau with four top three individual finishes, including a first place finish by
Caroline Lepesant in the 500 Yard Freestyle. The Lady Bees also recorded a first and second place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
All-American and national titlist Lepesant also represented the SCAD field by finishing third in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:56.41). Lepesant also combined with teammates
Shannon Cummings,
Haley Thompson and
Julie Woody in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team, which took first place with a time of 3:38.89.
Other SCAD swimmers had good finishes in the dual meet.
Rebecca Justus had a second place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:18.80), while
Edan Scott finished third in the 50 Yard Freestyle, (only a half second behind the winning time). Woody and McKinley tied for third in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Fourth place finishes were achieved by McKinley in the 100 Yard Freestyle,
Heather Partlow and Woody in the 50 Yard Freestyle, and Cummings in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
Coach
Chris Conlon appreciated the performances of his team and was especially pleased with the victory that the SCAD team had against Brenau University.
Next up for the ladies is the Brenau Invitational that will take place in Gainesville, Georgia on Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22.
