The SCAD Women's Swim Team hosted a dual meet against NCAA Div. 1 member College of Charleston at the Chatham County Aquatic Center this afternoon. It was "Senior Day" in the last home meet of the season. Coach
Chris Conlon knew that the Lady Bees would need an exceptional effort to compete with Charleston. Several of SCAD's swimmers were unable to take part in the contest due to injuries, and yet those who were able accounted for 5 victories out of the 13 individual events and 1 victory in the 2 relays.
Â
Leading the way for the ladies was second year student,
Caroline Lepesant. Lepesant won 2 of the 3 individual events in which she took part. Her wins in the 500 Yd. Freestyle (5:09.28) and 400 Yd Individual Medley (4:40.07) were the most for the Bees. She also finished fourth in the 200 Yd. Freestyle and contributed to a second place finish in the 4x50 Freestyle Relay.  Her 24 total points led the ladies on the afternoon.
Â
The two other individual event winners were sophomore
Emma McKinley and freshman
Becky Dionne. McKinley won the first individual event of the day in the 1000 Yd. Freestyle (10:39.79) and then followed that with a fourth place finish in the 100 Yd. Butterfly. McKinley also contributed a second place finish in the 4x50 Freestyle Relay. First year student Dionne showed her prominence in the 100 Yd. Backstroke (1:00.81) by winning the event and then followed that with a second place in the 200 Yd. Backstroke. To show her versatility, Dionne also placed fourth in the 50 Yd. Freestyle.
Â
The 4x50 Freestyle Relay Team of Julie Wood,
Heather Partlow,
Shannon Cummings, and McKinley provided SCAD with their other first place finish with a time 1:43.46. The ladies lost the meet by a score of 84-172, but Coach Conlon felt that the ladies competed hard and produced a good result considering the number of injuries they have incurred.Â

Next up for the Lady Bees will be a meet against St. Andrews University and Emmanuel College in Laurinburg, N.C. on January 25. This will be the last regular season meet until the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships in Charlotte, N.C. on February 12-15.
