The SCAD Women's Swimming Team defeated Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in Melbourne, Florida 170-92 for their first dual meet victory of the season. SCAD's Head Coach
Chris Conlon had this to say about the women's performance in Saturday's meet, "I am very pleased with how our team raced today. The Bees are swimming fast and racing well here as we enter our racing/championship phase of the season."
The Lady Bees were led by sophomore
Heather Partlow who won two of her three events. Partlow finished first in the 100 Yd. Breaststroke (1:10.37) and 200 Yd. Breaststroke (2:32.63). She also finished third in the 200 Yd. IM. Partlow also was a part of the first place 200 Yd. Medley Relay Team. Her contribution to the winning total of 170 points was 32 to lead all Bees.
Finishing just behind Partlow in the point contribution was 2013 NAIA All-American
Hannah Legg. Legg was tops for the Lady Bees in that she won all three events in which she participated. She won the 50 Yd. Freestyle (25:04), 200 Yd. Backstroke (2:08.97), and the 200 Yd. IM (2:11.32) to finish with 31 points for the Lady Bees.
SCAD's
Becky Dionne was superlative as she each added 23 points to the Bees' total. She won the 100 Yd. Freestyle and was a part of the first place 200 Yd. Medley Relay team. She also placed third in the 100 Yd. Backstroke.
Tying Dionne with 23 points was sophomore
Emma McKinley, who won both events in which she participated. McKinley finished first in the 100 Yd. Butterly (2:08.92) and the 500 Yd. Freestyle (5:15.65). She also was a part of the relay team in the 200 Yd. Freestyle that finished third.
Caroline Lepesant once again demonstrated why she was selected as a 2013 NAIA All-American by winning the 1000 Yd. Freestyle. Lepesant also showed her versatility by placing second in the 200 Yd. Butterfly. Sophomore
Shannon Cummings was the winner in the 100 Yd. Butterfly and was also a part of the winning team in the 200 Yd. Medley Relay.
Freshman
Alice Oggionni was a member of the first place 200 Yd. Medley Relay and contributed 7 additional points by finishing 2nd in the 200 Yd. Freestyle and third in the 500 Yd. Freestyle.
Congratulations to the Lady Bees on a good performance. The Bees' next meet will be at 1 p.m. on January 18 when SCAD takes on the College of Charleston in another dual meet. The meet will be a home event at the Chatham County Aquatic Center. Come out and support your Bees.
