Clemson uses second half to pull away from Bees

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Clemson University broke open a close match with seven second-half goals as the Tigers remained unbeaten with a 10-3 men's lacrosse victory over SCAD Savannah Saturday (Feb. 19) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

The Bees, who are ranked No. 12 in the latest MCLA The Mag Division II Top 23 poll, suffered their first loss of 2011 and fell to 2-1. The Tigers, who belong to the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference's Division I, improved to 7-0. SCAD returns to action Feb. 27 with a 1 p.m. match against Emory University in Atlanta.

The SCAD defense anchored by goalie Wade Winebrenner held Clemson in check during the first half as the Tigers only led 3-1 at the intermission.

Freshman Matt Dean scored two of the SCAD goals and Jordy McManus added the other while Trey McKay tallied an assist.
