SCAD splits double dual with Eagles and Cavaliers

ATLANTA –
The SCAD Savannah men's swimming team split their double-dual meet against the Emory University and Darton College Saturday (Jan. 22) at the Woodruff PE Center on the Emory campus.

The second-ranked Bees easily defeated Darton 198-52 while the Eagles, who are ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III, held off SCAD 151-111. SCAD improved to 9-3.

SCAD won four of the 16 events contested in the meet. Vitali Pushkar-Verbitsky and Alex Graudins each won two events for the Bees.

Graudins captured the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:41.15 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:35.15. Pushkar-Verbitsky won the men's 50 freestyle (20.93) and the 100 butterfly (49.52).

The 400-yard medley relay team of Pushkar-Verbitsky, Mike Lawrence, Steven Edgar and Graudins (3:28.32) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Pushkar-Verbitsky, Sam Crawford, Edgar and Graudins (3:11.91) each recorded second-place finishes in their relays. Edgar (100 backstroke, 55.98), Lawrence (100 breaststroke, 59.28), and Stephen Sullivan (200 backstroke, 1:58.36; 200 individual medley, 1:58.45) also recorded second-place finishes in individual events for the Bees.

SCAD returns to action Feb. 16 when they travel to Charlotte, N.C., for the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships.
