HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Trey McKay had four goals as the 20th-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design men's lacrosse team recorded a 14-6 victory over No. 10 Tennessee Wesleyan College Friday (March 12) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 5-3 with their fourth consecutive win while the Bulldogs fell to 7-2. SCAD will have a quick turnaround as the Bees will host Georgia State University in a 3 p.m. contest Saturday (March 13) at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
McKay was one of six players who recorded goals for the Bees.
Shelton Polka and
Jordy McManus each tallied three while
Keaton Monroe added two.
Derek Shurson and
Dan Ogren also notched a goal for SCAD. Shurson led the Bees with three assists while
Shelton Polka added two. McKay, McManus and
Kreyton Polka also had an assist for the Bees.
For the second time in the last three matches, the Bees shut down their opponents in the second half and didn't allow a goal.
Wade Winebrenner had 12 saves in net for SCAD, which only allowed one goal the entire match when playing a man down in 10 opportunities.
Derek Superville and
Darren Martin each had four takeaways for the Bees, who were 24-of-35 in clears against the Bulldogs. Martin also led the Bees with seven ground balls while
Justin Sicard was 9-of-21 on face-offs.
