DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Savannah College of Art and Design easily advanced past St. Thomas (Fla.) University 5-0 in the semifinals of the 2009 The Sun Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Friday (April 17) morning at the Crotty Tennis Complex on the campus of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University.
The four-time defending conference champion Bees, who are ranked fifth in the NAIA, improved to 9-2 while the Bobcats ended their season at 3-11. SCAD advances to Saturday's (April 18) 10 a.m. title match against No. 14 Northwood (Fla.) Univesity, which upset No. 10 Embry-Riddle 5-4 in the other semifinal. The winner of the conference tournament earns an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship May 12-16 in Mobile, Ala.
The Bees took a 3-0 lead after doubles.

Charlotte Debrey closed out the win for the Bees with straight-set victories at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
