HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Florida State University scored 11 of the first 12 goals en route to recording a 23-10 decision over the Savannah College of Art and Design in a men's lacrosse match Sunday (Feb. 8) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Seminoles are ranked No. 10 in the preseason MCLA the Lax Mag Division I poll while the Bees are ranked No. 14 in the preseason Division II poll. SCAD fell to 0-2 and will return to action next Sunday (Feb. 15) with a noon match against the University of Dayton in Atlanta.
Florida State scored the opening four goals before
Shelton Polka broke through for the Bees at the 5:56 mark of the first quarter. The Seminoles responded with six unanswered goals to take an 11-1 lead with 13:03 remaining in the first half.
John Healy scored back-to-back goals and
Trey McKay and
Stewart Yost added goals for the Bees as they trailed 14-5 at the half.
Derek Shurston added a goal in the second half while Polka tallied four more for the Bees.
