LAKELAND, Fla. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women's swimming team open their 2009-10 season with a 113-92 victory over Florida Southern College Friday (Oct. 30) afternoon at the Hollis Wellness Center Pool.

The NAIA defending national champions improved to 1-0 and will return to action at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Oct. 31) with a meet against the University of Tampa.

The Bees had the fastest times in five of the 11 events competed against the Moccasins.

Melanie Futscher led the way for SCAD with two individual wins. Futscher registered victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.49) and 200 individual medley (2:15.57) events. Mary Ashley Krogh (100 backstroke, 1:02.89) and Heather Librizzi (100 butterfly, 1:01.42) also each picked up a win for the Bees.
