ALBANY, Ga. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women's swimming team defeated Darton College 185-76 in a meet Saturday (Nov. 22).
SCAD improved to 4-3. The Bees return to action Dec. 5 when they host the three-day College Invitational at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
The Bees claimed wins in 13of the 14 events competed. Four different swimmers -
Stephanie McNicol,
Savanah Watts,
Cassie Dixon, and
Melanie Futscher - for the Bees were double winners. McNicol, who also won the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.71) event, set the first college record of the season for the Bees when she won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 10:26.36.
Watts claimed wins in the 200 freestyle (1:59.01) and 200 butterfly (2:24.88) events while Dixon did the same in the 100 backstroke (1:00.46) and 100 freestyle (54.22). Futscher also picked up wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.19) and 400 individual medley (4:45.34).
Zenobia Duncan (100 breaststroke, 1:07.92),
Lizzie Harr (200 backstroke, 2:14.98) and
Jill Jeffries (500 freestyle, 5:25.92) each earned wins for the Bees.
