SCAD Women's Lacrosse player, Kayla Nelson, was selected as the Student-Artist-Athlete Co-Player of the Week for April 7-13.

Nelson is a junior for the women's team.  She is an Industrial Design major with a 3.5 GPA.

Nelson is a part of the Women's Lacrosse Team that continues to make SCAD history by winning its 13th game in a row without a defeat in the 2014 regular season.  No prior SCAD athletic team has ever had an undefeated season and the team has now taken the undefeated streak into postseason play.

In the National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) South Regionals this past weekend Nelson was a part of two victories for SCAD that resulted in its being designated the top seed in the upcoming 2014 NWLL National Championships April 17-19 in Linderwood, Illinois.  SCAD won both games 14-7 and 19-10 to give them the South Region Championship.

Nelson was prolific in her scoring.  Over the two games played she scored 8 goals, had 1 assist, and had 8 draw controls.  Nelson leads the team in shots on goal (68), goals (42), assists (17) and ground controls (24).  Nelson has played on two NWLL National Championship teams for SCAD and will be going to her 3rd postseason in as many years with the hope of winning another NWLL national title.

Congratulations to Kayla Nelson for her Student-Artist-Athlete Co-Player of the Week honor.  This is the third time that Nelson has won this award.  She shares the award for this week with Alazne Urizar (W. Tennis).

Other worthy considerations were Jennifer Danko (W. Lacrosse), Nate Travis and Riley Mate (M. Lacrosse), Jon Riley (M. Track and Field), and Theresa Schmaus and Maja Plavsic (W. Tennis).
