Amanda Workman Haverstick is entering her second year as the Director of Athletics and Senior Women’s Leader and 24th year at SCAD.
Prior to her current position, Amanda was the Director of Golf for ten seasons and the Head Coach for Women’s Golf beforehand.
She led the women’s program to its 18th consecutive NAIA national championship berth during the 2021-2022 season. Last year, the SCAD women's golf team finished the season ranked 3rd in the NAIA after a 3rd place finish at the NAIA National Championship. The women's golf team had 3 NAIA All-Americans, 4 All-Conference selections and 5 WGCA All-American Scholars. In 21-22 the men’s program saw 3 golfers named GCAA All-American Scholars, 1 NAIA All-American, 1 All-Conference selection and reached a national ranking of #12 in the NAIA.
In the 2020-21 season the women’s team finished the season ranked 3rd in the NAIA with a top 6 finish in the NAIA National Championship. Two players were awarded NAIA All-American honors with 4 players named WGCA All-American Scholars. The men’s program tallied 3 GCAA All-American Scholars and 3 Academic All-Conference selections.
During a shortened 2019-2020 season due to COVID-19, the women’s golf team finished the year 2nd in the NAIA. In their final tournament before the pandemic, SCAD bested 46 NCAA D-1 teams at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate where sophomore Alessia Avanzo also finished 3rd individually. The team ended the fall of 2019 with a win at the Wofford Terrier in late October prompting a Golfweek article about their win at the NCAA D-1 event. The men’s team had a break out season up until the pandemic reaching #15 in the NAIA after a 2nd place finish at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invite and a fifth-place finish at the Sand Shark Invitational.
Throughout Workman’s tenure at the helm, the women's program has totaled 38 NAIA All-Americans, 46 All-Conference golfers and 21 NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team golfers. The women’s team won the 2018 NAIA National Championship with Workman named as the NAIA National Coach of the Year. The men's golf team tallies five NAIA National Championship appearances, is a three-time GCAA Academic National Champion, boasts 17 NAIA All-Americans, 12 All-Sun Conference golfers and 26 GCAA All-America Scholar Athletes.
Prior to SCAD, Workman played NCAA Division I golf at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Workman was named to the Academic All-Conference team during each of her four years at TCU and garnered the university highest academically ranked female athlete award. She was named Outstanding Freshman Athlete, voted most valuable player during her junior year and served as team captain her senior year.
While with the Horned Frogs at Texas Christian University (TCU), the team was ranked in the top 10 during three of Workman’s four years and won the 1997 Western Athletic Conference Championship.
Workman has a B.S. in Speech Communications from TCU and a M.F.A. in Performing Arts from SCAD.
