Karina Ono, joined SCAD Athletics during Fall 2021 as the Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Tennis team and promptly became the Interim Head Coach. Karina is thrilled with the opportunity to lead both tennis teams for the Bees. As a head coach, she is determined to build and develop the men’s tennis team and to continue the excellence performance of the women’s tennis team for the 2021-22 season and years to come.
 
Before joining the Bees, Karina was a graduate assistant coach at Warner University for two years, where she completed her Master in Business Administration degree and acquired most of her collegiate coaching experience, during the time at Warner, Karina built a respectful coaching networking and established positive relationships among coaches in the Sun Conference, among NAIA teams, and other members in the collegiate industry.
 
She started her collegiate coaching career as a Volunteer Assistant coach for ASA Miami, winning the NJCAA Women’s National Championship in 2019. And before her college coaching career, Karina spent a year abroad in China administering an after-school program as the Head Pro for a sports management company working with kids age from 4-15 years old.
 
She is a former DI player, graduated with an Accredited Business Management bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University, Mississippi. She also carries an AA degree from Barton Community College, Kansas.
 
Coming from a humble family in Brazil, her family has always been very supportive of her tennis career. Tennis has always been an important element in her life. Tennis gave her the opportunity to play high level of college tennis, to received full financial aid coverage for her studies, and to be fluent in English and Spanish.
 
Karina is very thankful for her family’s support and for the opportunity to be part of the SCAD Athletics in Savannah as she keeps working hard towards her personal and professional goals.
