Elena Tendero Ortiz enters her first season as the Assistant Coach for both Men and Women's Tennis teams at SCAD for the 2022-2023 season. 
Before joining the Bees, Elena spent two years next to Head Coach Sean McCaffrey coaching the Georgia Southern Eagles. In Elena's first season as the Volunteer Assistant Coach, the Eagles captured their first Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships for the first time in program history and earning an overall 19-9 record that year. During the Spring of 2022, the Eagles marked a 12-11 overall record, the fifth straight winning season for Georgia Southern Women's Tennis. 
 
Before her coaching career, Tendero played two seasons for Jacksonville State University, where she helped the Gamecocks achieve its highest team ranking in program history. Prior to JSU, she played at Tyler Junior College in Texas, where the team reached the finals in 2016 and won the NJCAA Women's Tennis National Championship in 2017.
A native of Alicante, Spain, Elena came to the United States in 2016 to pursue her education. She graduated from TJC with an Associate's degree in Biology in 2017, earned a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and Wellness at JSU in 2020, and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia Southern University.
Elena is excited to start the 2023 year with the Bees, and help them climb up the rankings.
