Chris Kamys

Chris is entering his fourth year as the Head Coach of the men’s and women’s golf teams.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Chris grew up playing baseball, soccer and hockey. In high school, soccer was his main sport. When Chris was 16, he went to Sweden, Norway and Denmark to play in some of soccer’s best youth tournaments against some of the best youth soccer players from all over the world.  In his junior year in HS, Chris was recruited to play soccer at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Always intrigued with the game of golf, it wasn’t until Chris was 17 years old that he picked up a golf club and swung it at the driving range for the first time. Chris was hooked, and a short three years later, he was on his college golf team. While Chris was a three-sport athlete in college (soccer, ice hockey and golf), he fell in love with golf. After graduating from North Central College, Chris realized golf was his passion and he began his journey in the World of Golf.

In the early stages of his golf career, Chris found himself more intrigued with the inner workings of the golf swing than the business side of golf and decided that he wanted to explore a career in teaching/coaching the game.

In the last 22 years, Chris has worked in all arenas of golf from public to private clubs and Resort to Teaching Academies. He’s enjoyed teaching all levels of golfers from beginners to Tour Pros at facilities such as TPC Sugarloaf, Marriott Golf Academy and the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

Chris lives in Bluffton, SC with his wife, Erin, and Is proud to be part of the SCAD family.
