Sammy Perlman has served as Assistant Coach for SCAD Equestrian since 2022, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the program’s national prominence. Known for her dedication to both athlete development and team success, she was recognized as Rod Echols Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024 for her contributions to the program.
Since joining the coaching staff, Perlman has helped guide the Bees to a remarkable run of national championships. In her first season (2022–23), SCAD captured three national titles, including the Tournament of Champions Series, the ANRC National Division, and the ANRC Novice Division. Her athletes also earned individual accolades, including ANRC and IHSA national titles, setting the tone for the program’s continued success.
The following year, 2023–24, Perlman contributed to four national championship victories, highlighted by the team’s 11th consecutive Tournament of Champions title and a historic IHSA Collegiate Cup win. Her mentorship helped riders achieve multiple individual national championships, high-point awards, and academic honors, reinforcing SCAD’s reputation for excellence both on and off the arena.
In 2024–25, SCAD sustained its elite performance, securing three national championships, including the team’s 12th straight Tournament of Champions title. Under her guidance, riders continued to excel individually, earning multiple ANRC and IHSA national championships.
Perlman’s coaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision, confidence-building, and holistic athlete development. Her leadership fosters a culture of excellence, ensuring that SCAD Equestrian remains one of the premier programs in collegiate equestrian competition.
