We're catching up with Bradley Green, a member of SCAD's Men's Swimming team. He graduated in 2015 with a BFA in Architecture. We checked in on what he's been doing since his time at SCAD and gave some advice for the current student body!
What does life look like for you after graduation?
I received my Master of Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology, and celebrated 10+ years at Niles Bolton Associates, the #1 Student Housing architecture firm in the United States for the 4th year in a row. I had the honor of being a part of a team that has designed and delivered 4,081student housing beds to the campus at LSU, with a total of 12 buildings with more to come in the near future.
What is a favorite memory or moment as a member of the swimming team?
It had be our Christmas training trips with the team. Spending a week plus with my team was one of the best joys. It was the hardest week of training but to be able to just train and bond with my team was the best. Plus, the nice Florida tanning while training was a nice addition.
What surprised you the most about being on the swimming team?
How collaborative it is. Swimming is such a personal sport. It is your lane and your event, but to get to the goal, you need your team. There were many times outside of the pool that my team was there for me and I was for them. We were all from different areas and countries, and we were a family that helped each other out. The team was always there to have your back.
What is one life or career lesson you've learned through your sports career at SCAD?
You must stay diligent and push through hard times and just work really hard to get what you want. Swimming while pursuing an architecture degree wasn't easy, but it set up my drive within the architecture field that has really helped me really breakthrough in my career and life.
What is your advice to the new members of the SCAD Bees community?
Be adventurous and meet new people. Go outside your bubble of comfort and try new things. College is meant for exploring new things and trying and failing.
What is your advice to the current members of the SCAD Bees community?
Soak it all up. Your peers, your professors, the experience that SCAD offers. It was one of my best memories and times that I do miss. Live in the moment and try new things.
