JACKSON, Ga. — The SCAD Bees cycling team delivered a powerhouse performance at the Outdoor Capital Classic, securing multiple podium finishes and elite top-ten results across two days.
The women's squad set a high bar early in the Women's 1/2 Circuit Race, where
Katy Krisky claimed the top step of the podium in first place, followed immediately by
Ava Wilson in second. The Bees showcased their depth in the same event with
Talia Sullivan and
Irene Del Puerto securing fifth and sixth place, respectively. In the Women's 4/5 category,
Laura Croll continued the momentum with a strong third-place podium finish.
The highlight of the day came during the
Women's P 1/1 Criterium, where
Wilson put on a masterclass performance, remarkably lapping the entire field to take first place. She was supported by a flurry of Bees in the top ten, including
Krisky (4th),
Croll (7th), and
Del Puerto (8th).
On the men's side,
Ian Schwing navigated a tough Men's P 1/2 Circuit to finish ninth, Schwing returned for the Men's P 1/1 Criterium to capture a brilliant second-place silver. Teammate
Javier Lopez rounded out the men's top performances with a fast-paced fifth-place finish in the Criterium.
SCAD's momentum surged into the second day of the Outdoor Capital Classic, fueled by a standout performance from
Croll. Building on the team's opening-day success, she dominated the Women's Collegiate 4/5 division, outlasting the pack to secure a definitive first-place victory for the Bees. Croll's elite endurance was further on display in the combined field race, where earned a gritty fifth-place finish overall.
The Bees are back in action on Saturday, March 28-Sunday March, 29 at the Auburn Race Weekend in Auburn, Ala.
