No. 6 Men’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 2 Keiser University on the Road

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The No. 6 SCAD Savannah men's lacrosse team fell 18-9 to No. 2 Keiser University on Saturday afternoon.
 
RECORDS: The Bees move to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Keiser remains undefeated at 5-0 and 4-0 in the conference.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD kept the contest within reach early, trailing 6-3 after the first quarter. Jonathan O'Bryant Graves opened the scoring, striking first with a goal at the 13:32 mark to go up 1-0. After two consecutive Keiser goals, O'Bryant Graves found the back of the net again to knot the game at two-all with 7:43 remaining in the quarter. The Seahawks responded with three goals before Mason Hickman found the back of the net for his first goal of the game to bring the score to 5-3 in favor of Keiser. The Seahawks added one additional goal in the quarter to go into the second up 6-3.
 
In the second quarter, Hickman sparked a rally with back-to-back goals, pulling the Bees within one at 6-5. O'Bryant Graves added his third of the day on a power-play opportunity, but Keiser answered with a five to one goal run to take a 12-7 advantage into the halftime break.
 
The Bees' offense struggled in the third quarter as they were held scoreless while the home team added four more goals to their tally to go up 16-7 heading into the final quarter.
 
SCAD attempted to mount a comeback in the final period, as Hickman notched two more goals to bring his game total to five, but the deficit proved too large to overcome as Keiser held on to win 18-9.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Mason Hickman led the offensive effort with five goals, while Jonathan O'Bryant Graves added a hat trick of his own. Sebastian Manuel contributed one goal and one assist, and Travis Cheristin provided two assists in the effort while Ian Wildermuth notched one assist.
 
Goalie Keaton Melcher was busy in the cage, recording 18 saves against a heavy barrage from the opposition. David Nebus led the defensive unit with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Levi Henning also contributed two caused turnovers.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Bees remain on the road to face No. RV Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m.
