Box Score ROME, Ga. —The No. 5 SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team continued its early-season momentum, cruising to a dominant 24-3 victory over NCAA DII Shorter University on Friday evening on the road at Ben Brady Field.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Hawks drop to 0-3.

Ellen Benintendi broke a program record for number of draw controls in a single game. Benintendi nabbed 17 draw controls, breaking the record of 15 set in 2019.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD established control immediately, scoring the first three goals –
Lilah Herold (2),
Marygrace Gordon – of the game in just over one minute of action. At the seven-minute mark, Shorter scored it's first goal of the game to make it 3-1.
However, the Bees answered with five more goals, Benintendi (3),
McKinsey Brown, and Herold, to end the first quarter with an 8-1 lead.
The scoring barrage continued in the second quarter as SCAD added six more goals from Herald (2), Benintendi (2),
Kellen Berkeley, and Brown, while maintaining a defensive shutout through the remainder first half going into the break with a decisive 14-1 lead.
SCAD went on a scoring tear in the third quarter, with eight unanswered goals from
Karley Holland (5), Benintendi, and Brown (2), heading into the final quarter up 22-1.
Annise Berkeley and
Lucy Griffeth scored one goal each to start the fourth quarter and then the Hawks finally managed to break through with the last two goals of the contest, bringing the score to 24-3 in favor of the Bees. The relentless pressure from the SCAD attack and a disciplined defensive effort ensured the outcome was never in doubt.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Bees' offensive explosion was led by
Ellen Benintendi who totaled six goals, two assists to tie a game-high eight points to go along with her record breaking 17 draw controls.
McKinsey Brown totaled four goals and four assists to tie a game-high eight points.
Karley Holland and
Lilah Herold totaled five goals each, while
Marygrace Gordon had one goal and one assist.
Annise Berkeley and
Kellen Berkeley had one goal and one assist each, with
Lucy Griffeth adding one goal as well.
Mollie Geiger led the defensive charge with two caused turnovers, with six others being credited with one.
Goalies
Chloe Zundel and
Marleigh Burritt split time in the cage, both totaling 30 minutes each.
