HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — SCAD men's soccer controlled the match from start to finish on Saturday night, using midfield dominance and a captain's performance from Mario Goic to secure a 3–0 win over Brewton-Parker at the SCAD Athletic Complex. The victory marks the Bees' first of the season, moving them to 1–3 overall.
The Barons came out physical but quickly lost control, picking up three yellow cards in the opening eight minutes. SCAD stayed composed, dictating tempo and creating chance after chance through sharp ball movement in midfield.
The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Goic delivered a dangerous corner that found Sebastian Gomez, who finished from close range for his first goal of the season. The strike was a well-earned reward for Gomez, who has looked dangerous off the left flank all year and finally broke through on the scoresheet.
Just minutes later, SCAD doubled the lead. After sustained pressure, a foul in the box set up Goic to calmly slot home a penalty kick, sending the Bees into halftime with a 2–0 cushion.
The highlight of the night came in the 62nd minute. Midfielder Kimi Husler slipped a ball forward, Gomez showed awareness to let it run, and Goic met it in stride on the right side, curling a perfectly placed strike into the far-left corner. It was a captain's finish that sealed the match at 3–0.
From there, SCAD's back line and goalkeeper Noa Sonntag kept the Barons quiet. Sonntag registered four saves for the clean sheet, while the Bees outshot Brewton-Parker 19–6 and forced six saves from the opposing goalkeeper.
Goic finished with two goals and an assist to lead the attack, while Gomez and Husler each played pivotal roles in the win.
With their first victory in hand, SCAD will look to build momentum as they continue their early-season slate.
