PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The SCAD Savannah men's golf team faced a deep 16-team NAIA field at the 2025 Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Keiser University at PGA National (Sept. 15–16), finishing 12th with a team total of +51 after rounds of +15, +11, and +25. East Florida State captured the team title at -1, the only program to finish under par.
Sophomore Luke Guthrie paced the Bees with a tie for 31st at +9, highlighted by a second-round 71 that was among the best scores of the day. Guthrie's 10 birdies tied for 10th-most in the field, showcasing his ability to produce offense against strong competition. Junior Connor Scott finished tied for 42nd at +11, steadying the lineup with efficient play on the par 5s, where he posted -1 overall for the week.
Rounding out the lineup, Valentin Klawitter tied for 71st at +22, Jack Layman placed 76th at +24, and Felix Straub finished 85th at +33. Despite the higher scores, each golfer gained valuable experience against one of the toughest fields they will face this fall. Connor Wolf competed individually for the Bees.
SCAD's 12th-place finish put them just behind SCAD Atlanta (+47) but ahead of Florida College (+52), Keiser C (+55), New College of Florida (+66), and Lake Sumter (+89). While the result was outside the top 10, Guthrie's scoring surge and Scott's consistency provided clear positives. The tournament offered the Bees a valuable chance to measure themselves against elite NAIA opponents, and the team will look to tighten its play and build momentum heading into the rest of the fall schedule.
