SCAD Cycling posted one of its strongest showings in recent years at the
2025 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships, hosted at the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis. Facing off against the nation's best varsity programs, the Bees secured a
fourth-place finish in the Varsity Best All-Around Team standings with 723 points.
Women's Results
SCAD's women turned in multiple top-10 and top-15 finishes across the championship weekend.
In the
women's kilo time trial,
Jette Aelken led the team with a
6th-place finish, followed by
Tess Edwards in
11th,
Ines Mendez in
24th, and
Irene Del Puerto in
27th.
The Bees shined in the
women's points race, where
Edwards placed 7th,
Ava Wilson took 13th, and
Del Puerto finished 15th, showcasing SCAD's strength in endurance racing.
One of the highlights came in the
women's individual pursuit, where
Aelken earned a podium with 3rd place, while Edwards added a
6th-place finish to bolster SCAD's scoring.
Across the Women's Omnium standings, Edwards finished
10th overall with 153 points, Aelken
13th with 121 points, Wilson
24th, Mendez
29th, Del Puerto
30th, and Ferreyra
31st, giving SCAD critical team depth in the overall standings.
Men's Results
The men's squad matched the women with several strong performances.
In the
men's 4k individual pursuit,
Alejandro Carpio led with a
13th-place finish, while
Vincente Hernaiz placed
20th and
Guillermo Carpio finished
25th.
The Bees added depth in the
men's kilo, where results were highlighted later in the weekend. In the
men's points race,
Alejandro Carpio placed 10th (later confirmed as possibly 8th), while
Hernaiz added 21st and
Guillermo Carpio finished 26th.
In the Individual Omnium standings,
Alejandro Carpio placed 13th overall with 117 points, followed by
Hernaiz in 35th and
Guillermo Carpio in 32nd.
Emiliano Mirafuentes rounded out SCAD's entries in his first nationals.
Additional Highlights
SCAD also saw a standout ride from
Joe Christiansen, who placed
4th in the men's kilo, marking one of the top individual finishes for the Bees at this year's championship.
Team Standings
With contributions across both squads, SCAD earned
723 points to secure
fourth place in the Varsity Best All-Around Team standings. The Bees trailed only Marian University (1000), Milligan University (918), and Colorado Mesa University (916), while finishing ahead of Piedmont, Lindsey Wilson, Fort Lewis, Belmont Abbey, and Midwestern State.
The results demonstrated SCAD's blend of top-tier performances and roster depth, reinforcing its reputation as one of the top programs in collegiate cycling.
