HARDERVILLE, SC – The No. 1 SCAD women's lacrosse team fought valiantly but fell short against Muhlenberg College, ending the match with a score of 15-13 on March 14, 2025. This defeat brings the Bees' record to 7-1.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 7-1, while Muhlenberg improves to 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The game commenced with both teams trading goals early on, with SCAD's Annise Berkeley netting the first goal at the 12:15 mark, trailing 2-1. The first quarter concluded with a close score of 5-3 in favor of Muhlenberg, thanks to contributions from Lily Herold and McKinsey Brown.
In the second quarter, SCAD rallied with a strong offensive push, highlighted by a goal from Emma Roch, who scored an unassisted goal shortly after, bringing the score to 6-4. McKinsey Brown continued her impressive performance by scoring again to narrow the gap. By halftime, SCAD trailed 8-5.
The Bees came out strong in the third quarter, with goals from Emma Roch and Ellen Benintendi, allowing the Bees to tie the match at 10-10. However, crucial turnovers and penalties hindered SCAD's momentum, allowing Muhlenberg to regain the lead. Despite this, SCAD remained determined, with McKinsey Brown scoring again to keep the Bees in contention.
The fourth quarter was a battle as the Bees attempted to close the gap. Lilah Herold's relentless effort resulted in a goal that brought the score to 11-12. Yet, Muhlenberg responded quickly, building an insurmountable lead. McKinsey Brown capped her performance with a late score, pushing the final tally to 15-13.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: McKinsey Brown led SCAD with four goals and one assist, showcasing her offensive prowess. Ellen Benintendi and Emma Roch also made significant contributions, scoring three and two goals respectively. Goalie Chloe Zundel had an impressive outing, making 14 saves to keep SCAD competitive throughout the match.
