COLUMBIA, S.C. — The SCAD Savannah men's golf team delivered a balanced performance at the 2025 Fall Koala Invitational, hosted by Columbia College at Deercroft Golf & Country Club, finishing fifth overall in a competitive 10-team field. The Bees recorded rounds of 298 and 305 for a two-day total of 603 (+27).
Leading SCAD was Valentin Klawitter, who earned All-Tournament Team honors after finishing fifth individually with a two-round total of 146 (+2). Klawitter's closing one-under 71 was one of the low rounds of the final day, helping him climb into the top five and secure the all-tournament distinction.
The Bees showed strong depth behind Klawitter. Luke Guthrie tied for 13th with a total of 152 (+8), while Conrad Gall tied for 18th at 153 (+9). Jack Layman placed in a tie for 25th at 155 (+11), and Connor Scott added a 156 (+12) to round out SCAD's team scoring in 28th place. Competing individually, Felix Straub tied for 29th at 157 (+13).
In team scoring, SCAD's 603 total (+27) placed the Bees just two strokes behind fourth-place Columbia College (SC) (+25) and within striking distance of Bluefield University (+21). Columbia International University claimed the team title at 579 (+3), followed by Johnson University (+19) and Bluefield.
From a statistical standpoint, SCAD's lineup ranked among the field's most consistent. The Bees recorded 98 total pars, the third-most of any team in the tournament, showcasing their steadiness across all 36 holes. SCAD also posted 21 birdies and two eagles, one of just three teams to notch multiple eagles during the event.
The event's scoring conditions proved challenging at times, but SCAD maintained its composure on the demanding Deercroft layout, marked by narrow fairways and firm greens. The team's final-round total of 305 kept them ahead of USC Sumter (+40) and Montreat (+68) in the standings.
The Bees' top-five finish continues their steady start to the 2025 fall campaign as they build momentum heading into their next event later this month.
