TAMPA, Fla. – For the third time this season, SCAD cross country has swept the Runners of the Week honors with
Max Heins and
Edith Manfred being named Men's and Women's Runners of the Week.
Yunyi Luo was named the Women's Golfer of the Week, while
Tim Rothe was named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. All awards are based on the week ending October 5.
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Max Heins | Junior | Westminster, Colo.
Heins was SCAD's top finisher, placing 23rd at the NCAA DI Fire Tower Project on Friday. The Junior led the Bees to a seventh-place finish in the NCAA DI heavy field of 11.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Edith Manfred | Junior | Hollidaysburg, Pa.
Manfred was SCAD's top finisher in the NCAA DI heavy Fire Tower Project 6K, placing 25th in the field of 109 with a time of 22:25.9.
The Bees return to action on Saturday, October 11, at the USCB Sand Shark Invite in Hardeeville, S.C.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Yunyi Luo | Sophomore | Sophomore | Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
Luo, who continued her impressive fall season with a standout third-place finish individually, led the Bees to a third-place finish at the Invite at Innisbrook. The Sophomore's second-round score of 67 was the lowest of the round.
The Bees will face College of Coastal Georgia on Sunday, October 12, at the Sanctuary Golf Club in Waverly, Ga., at 1:00 p.m.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Tim Rothe | Junior | Herzogenaurach, Germany | Defender
Rothe led a Bees' defense that allowed only one shot on goal, and a total of three shots, as the Junior played the entire 90 minutes. Rothe launched an unstoppable shot from distance, curling the ball into the top right corner from outside the penalty area for his first goal of the season, and what turned out to be the game-winner.
SCAD will hit the road to face Southeastern on Thursday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m.
