HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD men's soccer team opened the season with a home game against Georgia Gwinnett College and fell 2-1 Saturday evening.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 0-1, while the Grizzlies are 1-0 to start the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD out-maneuvered Georgia Gwinnett to start the game, maintaining possession for most of the half. Neither team managed to score, leaving the game tied heading into halftime.
A minute and a half into the second half, the Bees got on the board with a goal by freshmen Raffael Mohr to give SCAD a 1-0 lead. In the 64th minute, the Grizzlies tied the game once again and then followed nine minutes later with their second goal to take the 2-1 lead and, ultimately, the win.
KEY PERFORMERS
- Raffael Mohr: totaled one goal on one shot to give the Bees their only goal of the game.
- Connor Friel: had six saves in his 90 minutes of work.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel to the University of Mobile for the Rumble in the Jungle, where they will face No. 10 Mobile on August 22 and Faulkner University on August 24.
