WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. 8 SCAD men's lacrosse team lost 21-6 against No. 5 University of the Cumberlands in an Appalachian Athletic Conference Quarterfinal on Saturday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 9-6 overall, while the Patriots improve to 13-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Cumberlands scored the first goal of the game, but SCAD answered a minute later to tie it 1-1 at 11:09. Unfortunately, the Patriots scored seven unanswered goals to close out the quarter with an 8-1 lead.
Both teams scored three goals in the second quarter, with the Bees' goals coming at the 9:06, 2:29, and 1:40 marks to bring the score to 11-4 in favor of Cumberlands heading into halftime.
SCAD was unable to score in the third quarter and totaled two goals in the fourth to the Patriots 10, to fall 21-6.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Michael Mowers led the Bees' offensive attack with three goals and three points, while
Jordan Reeves totaled two assists and two points.
Sebastian Manuel,
Mason Hickman, and
Hunter Currie each had one goal.
Jake Kozak tallied two caused turnovers while
Lucas Martinez went 11-21, and
Kevin Curry went 5-6 at face-off.
Dan Costigan had a game-high five ground balls, with
Sebastian Manuel and
Lucas Martinez picking up four.
Goalies
Luke Lamendola,
Noah Miller, and Joe Deceglia all spent time in the cage, with Miller nabbing 11 saves, Lamendola eight, and DeCeglia two.
