HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 2 SCAD women's lacrosse team traveled to Life University to face NCAA DII University of Montevallo and won 16-14 Friday night.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-1, while the Falcons are now 1-5 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD scored the first goal of the game only 50 seconds into the first quarter. Montevallo answered with a goal of their own to tie the game 1-1 with 13:34 on the clock. The Bees scored four more goals to the Falcons' two to take a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.
With 11:38 on the clock, SCAD made it a 6-3 game. However, both teams scored twice more to go into the half, with the Bees up 8-5.
Montevallo outscored SCAD 7-3 in the third quarter to take a one-goal lead (12-11) into the final quarter.
SCAD knotted the game at 12-all just under two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Falcons answered with two more goals to take a 14-12 lead, but it would not be enough as the Bees scored four unanswered goals to earn the 16-14 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Clarke Haas led the offense with a team-high six goals, while
McKinsey Brown followed with four goals and three assists for a game-high seven points.
Kegan Plume totaled three goals, while
Annise Berkeley had two.
Ainsley Jones totaled one goal, with
Molly Wilson adding one assist. Berkeley added a game-high 13 draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Goalie
Lorna Fowles totaled 10 saves and seven ground balls in her 45 minutes of work.
Chloe Zundel had one save in her 15 minutes in the net.
