HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. RV SCAD men's soccer team tied Southeastern University 3-3 in the Sun Conference Final at home on Thursday. The Fire advance on penalty kicks, 5-4.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 11-4-3, while the Fire are 10-3-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD jumped on the board first with a goal from
Moritz Prattes off an assist from
Caio Lara to give the Bees a 1-0 lead in the tenth minute. Twelve minutes later,
Michael O'Brien, assisted by
Raffael Mohr, doubled SCAD's lead (2-0).
Southeastern scored its first goal in the 46
th minute, but the Bees answered with a goal from
Daire Russell, assisted by
Tim Rothe, in the 52
nd minute to take a 3-1 lead.
The Fire scored back-to-back goals in the 83rd and 88th minutes, the latter off a penalty kick, to tie the game at three-all and force overtime.
At the conclusion of two overtime periods, neither team scored, ending the game in a tie and sending it to penalty kicks to determine who advanced. Southeastern made five to SCAD's four to earn the Sun Conference Tournament Title.
