Women’s Cross Country Wins Akiah McMillan Invitational, Men Finish Fifth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The SCAD men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Columbia, S.C. for the 2023 Akiah McMillan Invitational on Saturday and the women's team won the event while the men's team finished in fifth.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS: Alex Midgett was SCAD's top finisher, placing second in the field of 114 with a time of 22:24.3. Edith Manfred, Maggie Froning, and Stef Baracaldo also finished in the top 10 with a fourth-place time of 22:48.8, a seventh-place time of 23:51.0, and a tenth-place time of 24:34.6 respectively.

The Bees, running in their first 6K of the season, won the 15-field event.
  
MEN'S RESULTS: The men's team ran an 8K course and the Bees' top finisher was freshman Max Heins, running a 26:02.6 to finish 6th out of the 132-runner field.
