HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD women's lacrosse team hosted Saint Michael's College on Thursday getting their first win of the season 13-11.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-3 overall while the Purple Knights are 1-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Saint Michael's stated the scoring with a goal five minutes into the game. SCAD answered with two goals, one from
Keagan Plume (Glen Arm, Md. / Architecture) assisted by
Ainsley Jones (Harvard, Mass. / Graphic Design) and one from
Annise Berkeley (Massillon, Ohio / Architecture) bringing the score 2-1.
The Purple Knights were able to score once more in the first quarter with the Bees scoring with only 11 seconds left to take a 3-2 lead going into the second quarter.
Berkeley opened the second quarter with a goal at the 13:03 mark to bump the score to 4-2. One goal came from Saint Michael's in the second followed by a SCAD goal from
Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding) bringing the score to 5-3 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, both teams traded goals back and forth with Plume scoring three goals and
Emma Roch (Savannah, Ga. / Fashion Marketing and Management), assisted by De Caro, scoring one. The Purple Knights scored five goals in the third closing the gap to 9-8 going into the final quarter.
Roch, unassisted, scored the first goal of the fourth quarter with 14:20 on the clock to bring the score to 10-8. The teams then traded goals with three from Saint Michael's and three more from the Bees. Two from
Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management), one assisted by De Caro, the other unassisted, and one from Jones assisted by De Caro bringing the final score to 13-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Plume led the offensive charge with four goals and one ground ball while Berkeley totaled three goals and four ground balls with two caused turnovers.
Haas (three ground balls) and Roch totaled two goals each while Jones (one ground ball) and De Caro totaled one goal each.
Olivia Jackson (York, Pa. / Fashion) had two ground balls.
Goalie
Lorna Fowles (Petaluma, Calif. / Animation) totaled four saves, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers in her 36 minutes of work.
