Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Point 14-7

WEST POINT, Ga. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season on Saturday, winning 14-7 over Point University.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-2, 1-2 AAC while the Skyhawks are 0-5, 0-1 AAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Jake Kozak (Bel Air, Md. / Illustration) opened the scoring with a goal just over two minutes into the first quarter to give SCAD a 1-0 lead. Point answered with three goals of their own.
 
The Bees scored three unanswered goals from Theron Turnbull (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Architecture), Max Williams (Irmo, S.C. / Illustration), and Michael Mowers (Savannah. Ga. / Film and Television) to give the Bees a lead by one.
 
The Skyhawks were able to only score one goal in the second quarter followed quickly by three more goals from Mowers, Chuck Ryan (Lake Oswego, Ore. / Fashion), and Seth Leister (Palm Coast, Fla. / User Experience (UX) Design) bringing the score to 7 – 4 in favor of SCAD going into half time.
 
The Bees started a scoring streak going into the third quarter with four consecutive goals from Jordan Reeves (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Architecture) (2), Williams, and Ryan only to be answered by one goal from Point in the third bringing the score to 11-6.
 
The Skyhawks started the fourth off with a quick goal followed only a minute later with a goal from Mowers. Point scored their last goal mid-way through the last quarter followed by SCAD to finish off with two goals, one from Williams and one from Leister giving the Bees the 14-7 win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Kozak was one of SCAD's top performers with eight ground balls, five caused turnovers, and one goal.
 
Kevin Curry (Sandy Hook, Conn. / User Experience (UX) Design) totaled 14 out of 18 face offs.
 
Goalie Benny Goldberg (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Industrial Design) totaled eight saves while goalie Luke Lamendola (Northport, N.Y. / Film and Television) made two.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will travel to Williamsburg, Ky. on Saturday, March 4th to compete against No. 3 The University of Cumberlands.
