Late Goal for No. 18 SCAD Women’s Soccer Leads to 1-0 Win

ATHENS, Tenn. - A goal in the 83rd minute for No. 18 SCAD women's soccer leads to 1-0 win over Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday afternoon. 

RECORDS 

  • The Bees improved to 3-1. 

  • The Bull dogs open the season 0-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The game remained scoreless until the 82:51 mark when Ines Sommer (Lisbon, Portugal / Film and Television) put SCAD on the board off an assist from Berglind Baldursdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland / Architecture) to take a 1-0 lead. 

  • The Bees held the Bulldogs to no shots in the last seven minutes of the game to give them the 1-0 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

  • Sommer led the offense with one goal on two shots while Baldursdottir totaled one assist and three shots. 

  • SCAD's defense held Tennessee Wesleyan to only three shots with none going on goal while the offense totaled 18 shots (10 on goal). 

  • The Bees totaled 10 corner kicks to the Bulldog's two. 

WHAT'S NEXT? 

  • SCAD returns home to host the Coca-Cola Classic featuring the No. 18 Bees, No. 17 Reinhardt University, No. 1 University of Tennessee Southern and No. 6 Keiser University on September 3 and 5.  

  • SCAD will face No. 17 Reinhardt on September 3 at 6:30 p.m. and No. 1 University of Tennessee Southern on September 5 at 10:30 a.m.
