MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 6 SCAD women's tennis team defeated No. 11 William Carey in the second round of the NAIA National Championship on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 11-4 overall, while the Crusaders end the season with an 11-5 record.
DOUBLES ACTION: SCAD took an early lead as Piccoliori/Llompart won 6-4 at number one doubles, and Tilk Tobrand/Botsford won 6-4 in the number three spot to earn the doubles point.
Sukkanha/Yu were down 5-4 at number two doubles when the point was won.
SINGLES ACTION: Priya Sukkanha (Nonthaburi, Thailand / Fashion Marketing and Management) earned the second point for the Bees as she defeated her number one singles opponent 6-1, 6-1.
SCAD's third point came from
Nicole Katzarkov (Germantown, Tenn. / Preservation Design), playing at number six singles, as she won 6-1, 6-2 to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.
Francina Llompart (Palma De Mallorca, Spain / Interior Design) clinched the match for SCAD with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number four singles.
Yue Yu (Dalian, China / Illustration) at number two singles,
Alessia Piccoliori (S.Cristina (BZ), Italy / Graphic Design) at number three singles, and
Tova Tilk Tobrand (Gothenburg, Sweden / User Experience (UX) Design) at number five singles were unfinished.
