Back-to-Back Double Overtime Ties for SCAD Men’s Soccer

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The SCAD men's soccer team traveled to Florida College on Saturday and are returning home with the second double overtime tie in-a-row.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 2-0-2 while the Falcons are 1-1-1.
 
DID YOU KNOW? SCAD has only allowed two goals from opponents in the first four games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees outshot the Falcons 9-8 in the first half but Florida College scored the first goal of the game in the 36th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
 
SCAD tied the game in the 79th minute when Caio Lara (Richmond Hill, Ga. / Arcitecture) found the back of the net.
 
Regulation ended with both teams at one goal.
 
In the first overtime, the Bees totaled four shots, with the last chance to score coming at the 100-minute mark from Jayden Corbridge (Weymouth, United Kingdom / Advertising and Branding) but it was saved by the Falcon's goalie.
 
Lewis Gamble (Airdrie, Scotland / Advertising and Branding) was SCAD's last chance at a goal at the 109:12 mark but it went wide right, and the game ended with a 1-1 tie.
 
BOX SCORE:  Lara scored the only goal for the Bees taking three shots, two on goal. Gamble totaled six shots while Jesus Ulloa (Savannah, Ga. / Graphic Design) tallied five with Corbridge adding four.
 
Goalie Anthony Sumoza (Valencia, Venezuela), in his first collegiate start, totaled three saves in 110 minutes of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host St. Andrews University on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 5:00 p.m.
