MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 8 SCAD women's tennis team faced No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett in the 2021 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Quarterfinals on Thursday and lost 4-0.
The Bees lost the doubles point as
Priya Sukkanha (Nothaburi, Thailand / Fashion) and
Eika Johanna Weber (Oslo, Norway / Industrial Design) lost 6-2 at number one doubles while
Haley Morrissey (Frisco, Texas / Animation) and
Hana Ahmed (Cairo, Egypt) lost 6-0 at number three doubles.
Yu Yue (Dalian, China / Illustration) and
Tova Tilk Tobrand (Gothenburg, Sweden / Industrial Design) were down 4-5 and left unfinished at number two doubles.
Georgia Gwinnett won at number six singles, number four singles and number three singles to earn the win. Ahmed lost 6-0, 6-0 in the number six spot while Morrissey fell 6-2, 6-1 at number four and Weber lost 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles.
Sukkanha was up 7-5, 0-3 at number one singles when the match was called. Yue lost her first set, but was up 4-1 in the second at number two singles while Tobrand was down 6-2, 4-1 at number five singles when the match ended.
