Men’s Soccer has Strong Showing at No. 7 St. Thomas University

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.  – The SCAD men's soccer team had a strong showing in a 4-3 loss at No. 7 St. Thomas University on Saturday.

  • The Bees are now 3-6-5, 1-4-2 SUN
  • The Bobcats improve to 10-0-2, 6-0-1 SUN
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bobcats scored the first two goals of the game to take an early 2-0 lead with the second goal coming at the 22:17 mark.
  • Matteo Tizzano (London, United Kingdom) shot a laser from 15 yards out to score in the back left post off an assist from Giovanny Lares (Savannah, Ga. / Graphic Design) to cut the lead in half (2-1).
  • Twelve minutes later, Jesus Ulloa (Savannah, Ga. / Graphic Design) chipped a ball over the keeper to knot the game at two-all with 38:05 on the clock.
  • St. Thomas scored the last goal of the half in the 39th minute to take a 3-2 lead into halftime.
  • The Bobcats scored just under 10 minutes into the second half to go up 4-2.
  • Ty Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica / Advertising and Branding) scored on a one-on-one opportunity into the right corner to bring the score within one (4-3) at the 80:05 mark. Unfortunately, it was not enough as St. Thomas held on to win 4-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Bees totaled six shots, five on goal, and had three corner kicks. The Bobcats totaled 14 shots, seven on goal, and tallied two corner kicks.
  • J. Ulloa totaled two shots, both on goal, while scoring one goal. Tizzano and Bennett went one for one, scoring on each shot.
  • Lares totaled one assist.
  • Goalie Connor Friel (Ballymena, Northern Ireland / Advertising and Branding) totaled two saves in his 90 minutes of work.
