QUICK SCORE: The No. 6 SCAD women's tennis team traveled to NCAA DI Mercer Saturday afternoon and suffered a tough 6-1 loss to the Bears.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 9-2 while the Bears improve to 11-12.
NCAA DI FORMAT: In NCAA Division I tennis, doubles count as one point and to earn that point a team must win two out of three matches. Singles matches count as one point each for a possible seven points.
DOUBLES ACTION: Mercer won the doubles point as SCAD lost all three matches.
Priya Sukkanha and
Eika Johanna Weber along with
Tova Tilk Tobrand and
Haley Morrissey lost 6-4 at numbers one and two doubles, respectively.
Valerie Droop and
Nicole Katzarkov fell 7-5 at number three doubles.
SINGLES ACTION: Droop won SCAD's only point when she defeated her number four singles opponent 6-4, 6-4.
Sukkanha fought hard but lost her first match of the season at number one singles 4-6, 7-6, 10-7.
Morrissey, at number two singles fell 6-2, 6-1 while Weber at number three singles lost 6-0, 6-2.
Tobrand fell 6-3, 6-3 and Katzarkov lost 6-3, 7-5 at numbers five and six singles, respectively.
