No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Holds Off No. 4 Keiser University

QUICK SCORE: The No. 1 ranked women's lacrosse team held off a battling No. 4 ranked Keiser University team to win 16-11 on the road Sunday morning. 

RECORDS: The Bees are now 8-1 while the Seahawks are now 10-2.

LAX-4-LIFE: Today's game was a Lax-4-Life game to promote awareness for suicide prevention. Prior to the game both teams wore T-shirts supporting the Lax-4-Life initiative.

DID YOU KNOW? Sydney Knego broke the program record for draw controls with 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD opened the game with six goals by Sydney Knego, Drew Dowgiallo and Harper Barth (3). 

Keiser answered with two of their own goals to come within four (6-2) at the 8:49 mark.

Back-to-back goals by Grace Boyer and Mackenzie DeMott increased the Bees' lead to six (8-2). Both teams scored two more goals with SCAD's coming from Jordan Mitchell and Knego to go into the half with a 10-4 lead. 

SCAD opened the second half with three consecutive goals from Knego (2) and Tatum Crouch to increase their lead (13-4).

The Bees scored three more goals (Crouch, Mitchell, Aly De Caro) throughout the second half to Keiser's nine to earn the three-point 16-13 win.

BOX SCORE: Knego led the way for the Bees with five goals, two assists for seven points to go along with her program record 15 draw controls. 

Mitchell totaled a game-high eight points coming from six assists and two goals. 

Barth and Crouch tallied three and two goals, respectively while Dowgiallo, Boyer, De Caro and DeMott had one a piece. 

Olivia Stahl and Emma Devereaux totaled five and three caused turnovers, respectively. 

Goalie Maggie Lortz spent just over 37 minutes in the cage and nabbed six saves. Tracy Richards came in with just over 22 minutes remaining and totaled two saves.

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host Columbia College for Senior Day on April 6 at 2:00 p.m.
