COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Collegiate Track National Championship concluded on Saturday in Colorado Springs. SCAD Savannah Cyclists

Clayton Stone had a tremendous final day of racing in this highly competitive event with Ray finishing as a three-time National Champion.
Ray won the Women's Mixed Sprint Event on Friday securing the National Title for the second year in a row arrived Saturday ready to race. The opening event was the Women's 500m Time Trial where Olivia posted a time of 37.127 to finish second behind Hanna McDade of Marian University (36.945).
Clayton Stone, who is a new to Track Cycling raced in the men's 1k Time Trial Event. Stone finished 24
thwith a time of 1:08.223.
"This entire weekend has been a great learning experience, I competed in Track for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was happy to be able to participate at Nationals" states Stone. "I have a lot to learn, but I am willing to put the time in for proper progression. I am very thankful for USAC for providing opportunities for collegiate athletes to develop in multiple cycling disciplines, but more importantly to grow as individuals."
The next event was the men and women's scratch events. Ray raced strategically and was clearly in control of the race earning her the National Title.
Sam Dower showed tremendous grit in the Men's Minor Final Scratch race. Dower showed incredible strategical ability which kept him in contention.
"Sam's fitness is currently at 85% capacity, but he is driven and working hard. I am certain he will be in top form for the Road season." Said Head Coach
Kim Clark.
The final event of the evening was the Team Time Trial Event. This is event normally contested with six team members each leading one lap. The trio decided to enter the competition with each athlete taking on two laps per person. Their determination placed them seventh overall and motivated to grow the Track Team at SCAD Savannah.
"Ray encouraged Stone and Dower to compete in Track this season" states Head Coach Clark. "Her leadership and passion has motivated me [Coach Clark] to bring other team members into the discipline. We discussed several ideas over the weekend are are committed to growing the Track Team at SCAD. Many of our athletes reside in Savannah during the summer. We don't have a Velodrome locally, so we will have mini-camps in Atlanta and Rock Hill. Our team is very adaptable and we have several athletes that have potential to do well at these events."
