Women's Lacrosse Dominates in NAIA National Invitational Quarter-Finals

Box Score QUICK STORY: The No. 1 SCAD women's lacrosse team dominated No. 8 Benedictine in the 2018 NAIA National Invitational Tournament on Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Michigan by 15 points (25-10).
 
RECORDS: The Bees remain undefeated on the season with a 13-0 record. The Ravens end the season with a 13-2 record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED? The Ravens scored the first goal of the game at the 26:13 mark but the Bees answered with three goals in quick succession to take a 3-1 lead. Taylor Vaccaro scored SCAD's first goal of the tournament at the 26:00 mark.
 
Benedictine took a 5-4 lead with 15:02 remaining in the first half but SCAD scored 10 of the next 11 goals to take a 14-6 lead into the second half.
 
SCAD scored the first seven goals in the second half to take a dominating 21-6 lead. Both teams scored four more goals in the last 15 minutes of the second half as the Bees went on to win by 15 points (25-10).
 
BOX SCORE: Sydney Knego led the way for the Bees, scoring seven goals and two assists for a game-high nine points.
 
Jo Mitchell totaled seven points with six assists and one goal while Vaccaro tallied five points with four goals and one assist.
 
Shannon Flaherty, Drew Dowgiallo and Tess St. John scored three goals each with Flaherty adding two assists for five points.
 
Mitchell won a game-high seven draw controls while Casey Summerson added six. Mitchell nabbed six ground balls and caused three turnovers. Knego, Olivia Stahl and Mitchell caused three turnovers each.
 
Goalies Maggie Lortz and Cameron Dolan split time in the cage and totaled four and one saves, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will either play No. 4 Lawrence Tech or No. 5 Keiser on Friday, May 11 in the NAIA National Invitational Semi-Finals.
